Album of Brooklyn Road Field Trip

Selected photos by Rod Crawford from my 27 April 2023 spider collecting trip with Shane Sater to a point in the hills midway between the Garrard Creek Valley and our March-trip sites around Brooklyn. A variety of working-forest habitats proved productive, especially an alder-maple stand with some conifers and a diverse understory. With quite decent sift samples and reasonable success in other habitats, we ended the day with 46 species. Plus we achieved our secondary goal of showing Shane the ropes of spider collecting, and the unsuspected-by-most faunal diversity of cryptic habitats.
