Album of Ford Prairie Field Trip
Part I, Grassland
Selected photos from the spider collecting field trip to a
natural gravelly prairie remnant south of Ford Prairie, west of Oakville, Washington
on 20 June 2007 with Laurel Ramseyer and Rod
Crawford. Photos by both, as credited. Discovered earlier this year by Scarab
Pyle, this site proved to have a wide array of prairie-limited spider species.
The place doesn't really have a name of its own and I'd thought of calling it
Pyle's Prairie, but it turns out to be only a mile or so south of the area called
Ford Prairie on maps. Confusingly, there's also a completely different Ford's
Prairie in Lewis County. Photos from the prairie remnant proper are on this
page; click here for part 2 documenting our collections
in oak woodland and other nearby habitats.
