Album of Toledo Field Trip
Selected photos from the spider collecting field trip to the
Cowlitz River near Toledo, Washington on 7 November 2007 with Laurel Ramseyer
and Rod Crawford. Photos by both, as credited.
Our original plans washed out by rain, the weather service Surface
Observations page showed us the one collecting destination where it was
dry, Toledo in southern Lewis County. Aerial photos from 1990 showed a nice
swatch of habitat along the river just south of town, but we found only a thin
fringe of woods separating the riverbank from new farm fields and sewage lagoons.
However, grass, litter, and a twilight visit to the town park still got us 32
spider species.
