Publications of Melville H. Hatch
Coleopterist, Historian of Science, Philosopher, Founder of
The Scarabs
1898 - 1988
Most of the following list (items 1-166 and most of the supplementary list of mimeographed essays) closely follows a list prepared and mimeographed by Hatch in 1966, checked and corrected against originals when available. Note that "1-166" of the original list actually contained 178 items, including 12 not given numbers (probably because they were inadvertently left out of an earlier draft). Additional material has been added by Rod Crawford, author of the associated biography. Hatch apparently did not regard book reviews as publications, and though he published many, I am probably only aware of a fraction of them. Co-authors are listed with "and" if Hatch was the first author, otherwise with "with". Hatch's original list did not abbreviate journal titles and neither do I; I regard this practice as outmoded since it renders extremely difficult the use of today's computerized library catalogues.
